Well researched and balanced. Our organisation has mixed taxonomy and folksonomy to harvest the benefits of both. Users can tag previously categorised content to allow for more granularity in discovery. We always provide a list of related tags and the ability to change tags at a global level to overcome some of the problems to mentioned above. Thanks for an informative read.

Thanks for this post - I am reading it in 2008-and you are a time traveller. This appears to be one of those things that is happening in the world all at once. People must begin to think for themselves again. This has been lost to a large degree because of the exploitation of the limitations of radio and television. Goodbye one way street!

Tagging has become a great part of the social network system and it is very popular by users and by search engines, results often show tags as part of a search criteria.

Very fine stuff that, comments are also high class.
SO I need some help. I would like to set up a newsletter index for tagging by the users BUT I have no idea where to start, sort of like trying to build a car when you know how to drive one. ANY leads to learning would be very helpful.
